Welcome to the Holmes PTA Web Site

Dear Holmes Families,

On behalf of the Holmes Elementary PTA, welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. My name is Christine Groves and I am the PTA President. I am looking forward to being part of another successful year here at Holmes.

As on-going budget cuts in education continue to affect the quality of our children's education, the Holmes PTA is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the academic, social and physical development of our students. The Holmes PTA strives to create strong connections between the school, family and community. The Holmes PTA is a highly-active, non-profit organization comprised of parents, grandparents, teachers and the principal. From the moment our children start learning, they all have the potential to be successful; however, they need support from all of us to help that potential flourish. Therefore, I am encouraging everyone to get involved with the PTA this year. Whether you are new to Holmes Elementary or a seasoned veteran, a working or stay at home parent, a grandparent or anyone willing to volunteer, there is a wide array of opportunities for involvement in the PTA, allowing everyone to participate in a way that makes the most sense for them. We need your time and talent because without volunteers, Holmes would not be what it is today! The first step is to become a member - you must renew your membership each year. Then, take some time to explore this web site and learn more about everything the Holmes PTA does and funds for our students. The web site is full of important information, so visit often.

To find out how you can get involved and contribute to another successful year of events and activities at Holmes, visit our volunteer page or contact one of our Volunteer Coordinators, . We hope you will find an area where you would like to help. Without your time and talent, Holmes Elementary would not be the great school it is.

In addition to the Holmes PTA website, there are many ways to stay informed. Sign-up for our weekly eBlast (if you signed-up last year you will need to update your profile) as this weekly e-newsletter provides important dates and information for the upcoming week as well as communicating specific volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The eBlast contains a wealth of information you won't want to miss, so please be sure to read it every week. Also, be sure to read our printed bi-monthly newsletter The Hawkeye, which showcases students, programming and current Holmes events.

This is our school community and everyone's input is welcome, encouraged and appreciated. If you have an idea or feedback on how the PTA is doing, send an email to holmespta@yahoo.com, attend the quarterly PTA Association meetings, or simply stop a board member in the hall to chat. We are working together for the children of Holmes Elementary and everyone's voice counts.

The first PTA Association meeting is on September 20th at 5:15 p.m. in the cafeteria. PTA members will have the chance to discuss and vote on the 2012-2013 PTA budget and programs. I look forward to meeting you at that time.

I am confident that you and your family will enjoy being a part of the Holmes Elementary community as much as my family has over the past four years. Please feel free to contact me at any time throughout the year if you have questions, comments or need anything at all.

Sincerely,
Christine Groves
